While attending the Cx Energy 2026 conference in Chicago, ACE IoT Solutions’ Andrew Rodgers and Bill Maguire took a drive to Aurora, IL to visit something we had wanted to see firsthand: the Nicor Gas Show Home, part of Habitat Green Freedom, a Nicor Gas Smart Neighborhood.

Built in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley, this development is a showcase for cutting-edge technology and a proof of concept for what affordable, resilient, and energy-efficient housing can look like for homeowners at all income levels. The home integrates natural gas, electricity, renewables, and smart connected technologies to help create a more cost-effective and comfortable lifestyle for the homeowners.
