In the US, back-to-school season is that magical time when students everywhere churn out essays about their “life-changing” beach trips or the noble purpose behind the 887 hours they logged on video games. At ACE IoT Solutions, our summer leaned less toward coding camps and travel soccer tournaments and more toward customer conversations and a healthy dose of organizational soul-searching. The payoff? We’re heading into fall sharper, fresher, and gearing up to unveil a revamped website in the coming weeks. Think of this post as our own version of the classic “What I Did This Summer” essay—just with fewer sunburns and only the occasional gelato.
Tools vs. Results
For most of our history, ACE IoT has proudly delivered DIY data access and management tools to the market. Over the past seven years, we’ve built and supported cost-effective tools that building operations experts—energy engineers, commissioning firms, and facility managers—use to enable reliable access to data from OT systems.
But with the release of ACE Sentinel in early 2025, we’ve had a realization: our customers don’t just want innovative tools—they want results. Tools are powerful, but what our customers value most are end-to-end solutions that directly improve building performance.
That insight shaped much of our work this summer. We listened closely to customers, dug into their toughest challenges, and asked ourselves how ACE IoT can best apply our expertise to deliver more complete, practical solutions. The outcome is a shift in emphasis: rather than leading with the features of our tools, our new website and offerings will highlight the results our team can–and does–deliver to building operators, engineers, and owners.
The Solutions We Deliver
The lessons of the past seven years have sharpened our capabilities—especially in OT network assessment and troubleshooting. Building on that foundation, we’ve zeroed in on the areas where our customers rely on us most, and where we’ll be focusing our solutions going forward.
So, moving ahead, ACE IoT will focus on helping our customers:
Access reliable building data.
No surprise here. Deploying, operating and supporting infrastructure that establishes Independent Data Layer capabilities in buildings is our bread and butter!
Improve OT network visibility.
In many of the buildings we work in, building operators do not have true visibility into the equipment on the network and the connections that constitute the network. Without that visibility, cybersecurity, communication between teams, capital projects, and more fall through the cracks. ACE Sentinel is providing our customers with game-changing visibility into their OT networks.
Assess and troubleshoot OT network performance.
Even when you can see the devices on your network, sometimes it takes an expert to solve the root problem preventing the deployment of advanced applications like Automatic Fault Detection and Diagnosis (AFDD). Our Customer Success team uses the daily scans of a building’s BACnet network generated by Sentinel to evaluate network performance, diagnose issues, and make recommendations for improvements–including validating those improvements.
Access unconnected systems.
Many buildings still operate with critical equipment left outside the BAS, often because the cost of integration seemed too high. Seamless integrations between ACE IoT’s data management tools and LoRaWAN sensors and hubs can offer our customers a reliable and cost-effective means to connect, monitor and schedule buildings and equipment that was previously determined to be not worth the effort.
Implement Smart Building Applications.
In the past, we’ve worked with and provided smart building solutions for smart folk. But what about solutions for buildings that aren’t “smart”? ACE IoT’s LoRaWAN-integrated solution introduces monitoring and control in buildings where none existed before, enabling greater occupant comfort, monitoring, scheduling, leak detection, energy management, and more.
Streamline commissioning workflows for RCx and MBCx projects.
ACE IoT’s solution proves both traditional commissioning completion for critical equipment and assesses a system’s readiness for advanced applications and continuous operational monitoring for key performance indicators.
Enable and Support digital commissioning.
Among building owners and operators, we are seeing greater interest in testing and validating that control systems are ready to support advanced applications, including Automatic Fault Detection and Diagnosis (AFDD). Working with Cx providers, ACE IoT can help ensure that Cx customers are getting what they paid for: a building with an OT environment that is ready to support advanced Smart Building applications.
Looking Forward
This summer gave us the chance to reflect and grow, and it reaffirmed our mission: to make building data accessible, reliable, and actionable so that building professionals can focus on delivering efficiency, comfort, and performance at scale.
The solutions we’ll be releasing in the coming weeks will be aligned with the above focus, dedicated toward resolving our customer’s problems and paving the way for future-ready buildings.
Did any of the above challenges resonate with you or your customers? We’d love to talk–let’s solve your long-standing network frustrations together. Contact Bill Maguire at bill@aceiotsolutions.com, or schedule a time on our calendar now to explore how we might work together.
